Obituary for Nancy L Van Saun

Nancy Louise Van Saun, 72, nee Kiefer, of Ewing NJ, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 15.
Born on June 22, 1946, in Easton PA, she was a daughter of Ronald and Phyllis Kiefer.
She graduated from Wilson Borough High School in 1964 and from Ursinus College in 1968, where she met Bill, her husband to be. They would have been married fifty years this coming May.
Following college, she was employed as a chemist by DuPont for eight years before leaving to raise a family.
Always active, she was a Den Mother while her sons went through Cub Scouting, for many years she was active at the Lore Elementary School in Ewing as a classroom aid, substitute teacher, and most recently as a STAR volunteer in the library. She was a very active member of the Ewing Presbyterian Church for over forty years. She was also a member of the Ewing Municipal Alliance. She will be remembered for her prodigious output of notes and cards to many relatives and friends.
Diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in 1996, she fought a valiant battle against progressing metastatic cancer for over twenty-two years.
She is survived by her sister Sally Alercia of Easton, PA, and her husband William A. Van Saun, three sons and four grandchildren: Pieter, his wife Stephanie, and their children Annabelle, and Steven, all of Glen Allen, VA; Robert, at home; and Alan, his wife Brooke and their daughters Sofia and Eva, all of Alexandria, VA.
A private service will be held for the immediate family while a celebration of Nancy’s life for her many friends will be planned to take place after the holidays.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, the Ewing Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choosing. Arrangements are by the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Condolences are welcome at
