She worked as an RN clinical nurse in a variety of settings including the emergency room, a psychiatric inpatient facility and a school for delinquent boys. As a BSN nurse, she worked for years as a Director of Nursing at a specialized treatment facility – the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. Later, after obtaining her MSN, she did prescription and medication management in private practice for Princeton Healthcare Associates and provided psychotherapy for Psychealth Associates, her husband’s private practice. There, she specialized in women’s issues and in working with adults with intellectual disabilities. With her husband, she conducted group therapy for developmentally and intellectually disabled adults. She also co-authored two articles on the treatment and management of children with special needs.
Throughout much of her career, Elaine also worked as a nurse consultant at the Rockbrook School, a facility for children with communication handicaps in Skillman, NJ. There, she co-authored a curriculum on sex education for special needs teenagers.
In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and spending time at the Jersey Shore. She especially loved the American West and made several trips to Yellowstone National Park in Montana.
