Obituary for Robert George Sakson

Robert George Sakson, 82, of Ewing passed away May 15th at home with family and friends at his side. Born in Trenton, he was a life-long area resident. He studied at Trenton Jr. College now Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, New Jersey, before launching a career as an art director and illustrator for Tony Lee Associates in Trenton, NJ. While managing those demands he established himself as a fine artist and earned signature membership in the Pastel Society of America, the American Watercolor Society (Dolphin Fellow), Garden State Watercolor Society, the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and the New Jersey Water Color Society. His watercolors are included in many private and corporate art collections, and books. He taught master classes in watercolor at the Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, NJ. And did workshops for art associations
He won many awards including the Gold Medal from Allied Artists of America and three silver medals from New Jersey Watercolor Society.
His moto of “Buy Nothing New“ lead to many interesting collections from radios to his Model A he also enjoyed a full active life with his sports, skiing (Belle Mountain Ski School where he met his wife of 42 years), bowling, golf, and surf fishing at LBI
He enjoyed his friends and was proud of his students
Son of the late George and Teresa Shwarz Sakson, he is survived by his wife Carla Hagberg Sakson, his sister Judith Tilton of Hamilton, his nephew David G. Tilton of Pennington, and his niece Teresa Tilton of Robbinsville and many cousins.
Private family services will be held by the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Hamilton.
