Obituary for Miriam Elizabeth Griffis

Cape May NJ, Miriam Elizabeth Larkin Griffis, age 92, formerly of Pennington NJ passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020. She was the wife of Earl Griffis Sr. They shared 72 years of marriage together. She was a graduate of Hopewell Valley High School. She was a lifelong member of First Church of The Nazarene in Pennington. There she was very involved with Sunday school, nursey care, and was a key person in the kitchen preparing meals for church events. She belonged to numerous bible studies. She worked at the Pennington Prep School in Pennington NJ and also the Hopewell Valley School district. She enjoyed summer retreats at Erma Holiness Camp, Cape May and was involved with the child care and kitchen preparation. She and her beloved husband also enjoyed yard sales and antique collecting. She loved to read and was a fabulous baker and graciously shared her treats and recipes. She also spent time doing puzzles and board games with her family.
She is survived by her husband Earl Griffis, Sr., two sons and daughtes-in-law, Earl O. Jr. and Kathleen Griffis, Robert and Joyce Griffis, and two daughters, Lorraine Rose, Linda Tees and husband Dennis, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents Lewis P. and Hattie Larkin, her son Wesley Griffis and infant sons Wayne and Daniel.
Graveside services were private for the family at Highland Cemetery Hopewell with the Rev. William O. Kauffman officiating.
Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Grace Church of the Nazarene, 100 Bull Run Road, Ewing, NJ 08628.
