Obituary for Marian Olmstead Letts

EWING
Marian Olmstead Letts, 94, passed away peacefully in her home on October 4, 2019.
Marian grew up in Hamilton Square and lived her adult life in Ewing.
Marian was a wonderful combination of intelligence, hard work and kindness.
As a result of her hard work and intelligence she graduated first in her
class at Hamilton High School, Class of 1943. She earned a scholarship
and also graduated first in her class at Trenton State Teachers College
(aka TCNJ), Class of 1947.
After graduation she taught for five years before taking off ten years
to raise her family. She resumed teaching in 1962 and taught until
her retirement in 1986. She believed in her students and in education.
Marian was old school in the best sense possible. Good enough wasn't,
praise was earned and if you didn’t have something nice to say about
someone you didn’t say anything at all. Marian spent her time with those
who also found the best in others. Although not given to frivolity, a more
genuine smile will not be found.
Marian was active in, and a 60 year member of, the First Presbyterian
Church of Ewing. Upon her retirement she was quite involved in the Mercer
County Retired Educators Association.
Those closest to Marian will now be without a source of goodness in their lives
but know they are fortunate to have had her in their life.
Marian was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Robert A. Letts. She is
survived by her two sons and a daughter in law, Barry of Harleysville, PA, Jeff and
Jennifer of Ewing, NJ, and two grandchildren, Corey Letts and Chelsea Moyer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 9th 11:00 a.m. at the 1867 Sanctuary, 101 Scotch Road, Ewing with the Rev. Paul Rhebergen officiating. Burial will follow in Ewing Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Condolences are welcome at www.wilsonapple.com.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
