Obituary for John C Holcombe

TITUSVILLE
John “Jack” C. Holcombe, 81, of Titusville passed away Friday January 11th at Capital Health System at Fuld from injuries sustained in a fall at home. Born December 9th 1937, John was a lifelong resident of the Hopewell Valley area. He was a member of the Titusville United Methodist Church. John took over as President of Holcombe Electric in 1967 from his father who started the business in 1954. He remained the President throughout his life after creating the Shunt Corp. under which Holcombe Electric Service remains to this day. John would often be seen in the company of Scott prior to Scott’s passing, looking at jobs to estimate or picking up supplies at the grocery store. Terry Brown, a long-time employee of Holcombe Electric, whom John thought of as practically another son, will continue the business along with Jon. A wonderful, gentle and caring father and husband, John will be missed by all who knew him.
John served in the 82nd Airborne Infantry for 2 years around 1957 where he was a paratrooper. He served on Hopewell Township Economic Development Commission in the mid 70’s and served as a Commissioner on Hopewell Township Board of Fire Commissioners district #1 in the 90’s
He is predeceased by his parents George S. and Charlotte Holcombe, two sisters, Betty Lou and Barbara and his adopted son Scott Epley Holcombe. He is survived by his two sisters Kathy Owens and Charlotte Murphy, his wife Doris Parker Holcombe, daughter Laurie Nuzzo (Michael), sons Jon (fiance Anne) and D.J. and George Epley, several grandchildren, Michael, Leah, Kayla, Ben, Teddy, Tyler, Ryan, Patrick, Amanda, Alyssa, Nicole, several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 16th 1:00p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be private at Ewing Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Titusville United Methodist Church, 7 Church Road, Titusville, NJ 08560 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
