Obituary for Ina "Cappy" Ulsamer

Ina Kathleen Ulsamer, lovingly known to us as ‘Cappy’ passed away on October 5, 2019 at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, New Jersey.

Cappy is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Robert James Ulsamer, “Bob” and is survived by 4 children: Robin Wolf from Pennington, New Jersey; Jeff Ulsamer and his wife Signe from Olney, Montana; Dana Harrison from St. Augustine, Florida; and Susan McConville and her husband Jay from Richmond, Virginia. She is also blessed with 6 grandchildren; Jake McConville, Rebecca Wolf, Colin McConville, Tim Wolf, Katrina Harrison and Katelyn McConville and a new greatgrandchild, Olivia McConville (known to us as the Pineapple Princess, born a few months ago in Hawaii). And last but not least, Mom is survived by her loyal 4-legged companion, Charlie, who was always at her side.

Cappy’s extended family as described above reside in 8 different states, the farthest being Hawaii. We have been looking forward to coming together this Columbus Day weekend to celebrate Grandson #2 (Colin’s) wedding taking place in Lewes, Delaware. Mom was very excited about this event. It would be a glorious wedding celebration welcoming a new member, Sarah, to our family, as well as an opportunity to see the whole family, even Jeff from Montana and Jake and Martha McConville from Hawaii with their new baby, Olivia. We will celebrate Colin and Sarah’s marriage on Saturday as planned and will celebrate Cappy’s life in ‘Cappy Style’ starting off with a Happy hour on Sunday.

... and what a life it was. She called many places home throughout her life, starting off in Queens, Long Island and then onto Stony Brook and then Montauk, the very end of Long Island. From there she and Dad moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida for some sunshine (as well as a lot of golf and tennis). After Dad’s passing, she moved closer to family in Alexandria, Virginia and finally to Pennington, New Jersey. Her friends are scattered throughout. She kept in touch with her childhood friends, high school friends and friends from where ever she called home throughout her life. Her last place of residence was at Brandywine Assisted Living. She was surrounded by a wonderful caring staff and her days were loaded with activities. As we all know, Cappy liked to keep busy, no such thing as idle time.

Cappy was into so much; church, local theatre back in the day, the Ward Melville Prom Decorating committee (even after we all graduated), Real Estate, tennis, golf, art, painting, bridge, and music. She loved getting together and playing the piano with everyone joining into song. She was a competitor (wonder where many of us got that from). She was fun loving and often the life of the party, with always a story to tell. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother to 4 kids, grandma, and a true and loyal friend.

With all of us being so far apart, we wouldn’t begin to know where to have a formal memorial service. We think it is probably best to have a ‘virtual’ celebration of life for Mom online. All of us have some ‘Cappy’ stories to tell. Feel free to share memories, stories, pictures, and sentiments with us all on the Wilson – Apple website.

… and please keep in touch. Mom’s friends are our friends as well. Thanks so much for your support during this difficult time and your friendship throughout the years.

Love to you all,

The extended “Ulsamer” family
